Sep 22, 2024; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; Atlanta Falcons linebacker Kaden Elliss (55) tackles Kansas City Chiefs running back Carson Steele (42) in the second quarter at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Carson Steele is all about his team.

And after the Kansas City Chiefs lost their star running back, he knew how important his presence would become.

So, in Sunday night’s primetime matchup between the the Chiefs and the Falcons, Steele had to miss a very big family event to be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with the other members of the Kansas City squad.

Steele missed his sister’s wedding, but the entire family made sure to have the game on during the reception.

The NBC broadcast was even sent a video of the whole family cheering the young running back on in his first NFL start.

And for anyone wondering why they didn’t move the date, it was the only day the venue was available.

You can’t help but root for Steele after learning about his journey to the NFL.

He began his college career at Ball State, but transferred to UCLA in 2023.

However, despite his impressive stats, finishing with 648 carries for 3,294 yards and 26 touchdowns, he went undrafted.

It was the Chiefs who took a chance on the running back, signing him as an undrafted free agent.

And his impressive training camp earned him a spot on the 53-man roster.

Oh, and not to mention, he has a pet alligator named Crocky-J.

How can you not root for this guy?

Steele grew up in Indiana, where once upon a time he was bestowed with an exotic pet — an alligator named Crocky-J whom he’s raised since childhood.

“He’s getting big now, he’s about 4 or 5 feet probably,” Steele told ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt in 2022.

“I’ve had him since I was little kid.

We actually took him to school once for like show and tell for pets and stuff like that.

All the kids had like cats and dogs and stuff they were bringing in, and I brought in Crocky-J.

His decision to sign with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent might not just be about an opportunity to play for the two-time Super Bowl champions.

Missouri is one of just 12 states where owning a pet alligator without a license is legal, so long as Crocky-J remains under eight feet long.

I’m not sure how one would go about transporting a five-foot-long and 95-pound alligator across state lines, but I’m sure he’ll figure it out.
